For the Culture Series

I love colors and mixing prints. I am in love with these series that I did with a college friend of mine. I was able to put a modern twist to traditional clothing and pay tribute to my culture. This here is called a dirac. Its an oversized piece of fabric worn with a skirt under and a scarf to match. The skirt is purposely more shapely under; gives an illusion of a womanly figure. Traditional clothes tend to be a bit more pricey and can only be found in certain places. The most important part of this outfit is the cloth used to make the main dress. It can just be any old chiffon, it has to flow. Usually that is how you know the quality of the material, how easily it flows and drapes. Head scarfs aren’t anything new in my culture. Women have been wearing scarfs for as long as I can remember. I really wanted to pair this outfit with something that was unexpected, yet worked really well together. I think the hair brought it all together. It gave me high couture vibes. I tried to channel my inner model in this shoot and loved every minute of it! Hope you all enjoy it as much as I did.
